About this board game

Public Market is a tile-laying, engine-building game for 2–4 players that plays in about 90 minutes. Players head out to sea, fish to fulfill contracts, and compete to gain points and emerge as the winner.

At the heart of the game is an ice chest that players build through bidding and drafting tiles. Each tile is played into an ice chest, creating the foundation for the catch that players will later bring to market. Once the ice chest is full, it is time to sell the latest catch and pursue contract goals.

The market introduces changing values for the catch, giving players a reason to pay attention to when and how they sell. Players can also complete contracts to gain points before receiving a new ice chest and returning to the open water.

Public Market follows a repeating cycle of fishing, building, selling, and contract completion. After the ice chest is full, players visit the market, resolve their latest catch, get a new ice chest, and head back out to fulfill new contracts.

Play continues until the ocean bag is empty. With its blend of tile drafting, tile laying, engine building, market values, and contract fulfillment, Public Market turns each trip between the open water and the market into part of the race for points.
