About this board game

A Wayfarer’s Tale is a 1–4 player Roll & Write game about exploring uncharted islands, with voyages lasting about 45 minutes. Players race to discover Towns, collect Treasure, and navigate the dangers of Monsters while competing for the most points.

Turns are taken simultaneously, keeping every player engaged throughout the expedition. There are no rounds; instead, play continues turn by turn as everyone chooses from a shared pool of dice.

On each turn, players add the values of two dice together to enlist the services of an intrepid Explorer. These Explorers help wayfarers traverse tricky terrain as they chart their journeys across the island.

The game ends when one player visits every Town on the island, but reaching that goal is not the only measure of success. True victory comes from building the most impressive expedition through a combination of exploration, wealth, and the dangers encountered along the way.

In A Wayfarer’s Tale, your final score is based on the number of Towns you visit, the amount of Treasure you discover, and how many Monsters you face. Set out as a Wayfarer, make the most of the available dice, and pursue the most bountiful expedition.
