About this board game

Rollecate is a fast tile-laying game for 1–4 players that takes about 15 minutes to play. Players work to build new tracks for a historic steam locomotive and get it rolling again.

The locomotive was built in 1967 by a famous Dutch engineer and has spent the past five years in storage. Now it is eager to move, creating a tense race against the clock as players add track and try to keep the route safe.

Each new section of track brings opportunities and risks. Causing Rollecate to derail is costly, so players must carefully consider their choices while using press-your-luck dice rolling and tactical set building to support their plans.

This combination of mechanisms gives the game a lively pace without making it complicated to get started. Tile laying shapes the route, dice add uncertainty, and set building rewards tactical thinking as players try to keep the locomotive moving.

The game includes 55 playing cards, four custom dice, and a wooden train figure. The Kickstarter edition instead includes a scale 1:87 white metal miniature locomotive.
