Nut Job

About this board game

Nut Job is a memory game for 2–4 players that takes about 15 minutes to play. Cross a forest of hidden cards, remember what others reveal, and be the first player to collect five hazelnuts.

The game uses a 3×3 grid of forest cards. Every card has the same back, while its front shows one of three images—mushroom, leaf, or stone—in one of three colors: yellow, red, or blue. Around the grid are twelve spaces containing cards showing between one and three hazelnuts.

On a turn, place your squirrel card before a row or column of your choice. Then announce what you think is on the back of the first forest card, guessing either its image or its color. Reveal the card to check your memory. A correct guess lets you continue along the path toward the hazelnuts, while an incorrect guess ends your turn.

• Choose at the start whether to play with images or colors.
• Use previously revealed cards to make better guesses on later turns.
• Switch between images and colors whenever a player reaches a hazelnut.

When another player begins on a row or column that has already been explored, the information revealed there may help them—provided they can remember it. The changing guessing rule means that knowledge useful a moment ago may need to be viewed differently after someone reaches a nut.

In Nut Job, every revealed forest card becomes part of a shared memory challenge. Watch what other players uncover, recall the route through the grid, and push your luck as you race to collect five hazelnuts first.
