Pacific Tide: The United States Versus Japan, 1941-45 is a strategic-level World War II board wargame for 1–2 players, with games lasting about 240 minutes. Players control the United States, including some Commonwealth forces, or Japan in a tense struggle across an area map of the Pacific.

The game uses a fast-paced, card-driven combat and build system centered on carrier operations. Each side has a separate deck, receiving that year’s cards for free while spending build points to repurchase older cards. Many cards offer exclusive choices, forcing players to weigh immediate operational needs against longer-term strategic plans.

Players must decide when and how to commit carrier forces, land-based air power, and intelligence assets. The Japanese player faces a deteriorating pilot quality and loses the strategic initiative starting in 1943, while the United States must defeat Japan by 1945 or fail to win. Control of key geographical objectives and decisive carrier battles create mounting pressure throughout the game.
