About this board game
La Der des Ders: The War to End War is a strategic First World War game for 1–2 players, with games lasting about 120 minutes. Each player leads one of the two opposing sides: the Entente or the Central Powers.
The game unfolds through turns representing four months of real time. At the start of each turn, players receive Resource Points and must decide how to allocate them, shaping the direction of their wider war effort.
- Spend resources on reinforcements.
- Invest in technological research.
- Prepare and launch offensives.
Victory depends on powerful offensives that drain the morale of enemy nations and force them out of the conflict. However, every battle carries a serious price for the attacker, creating a constant tension between striking hard and preserving the strength needed for what comes next.
A game can continue for up to 14 turns, unless the war is won or lost earlier, or peace talks begin. Historical events punctuate the campaign, helping recreate the unfolding course of the First World War while leaving strategic decisions in the players’ hands.
La Der des Ders also includes dedicated solo rules. In solo play, you choose to command either side while Athena, the virtual opponent system, controls the other. Whether played competitively or alone, the game invites you to guide the war through resource management, research, offensives, and the consequences of battle.
