About this board game

Oilfield is a strategy board game for 2–5 players, played in about 60 minutes, set in Texas in 1933. Each player becomes an ambitious American businessman seeking wealth by exploiting rich oil reservoirs and turning natural gas and oil into profitable investments.

Begin by pursuing a government lease in a promising oilfield. Build towers, drill for resources, and develop the facilities needed to handle your growing operation. You will need to decide how best to use your opportunities while competing entrepreneurs pursue their own paths to prosperity.

• Obtain concessions over land for exploitation
• Build towers to extract oil and gas
• Expand refineries and warehouses
• Sell products through local and national markets
• Trade resources and invest in the investment market

During each round, you perform two actions: one public action and one secret action. How wisely you manage these choices determines how many investments, or victory points, you can acquire over the course of the game.

Oilfield rewards careful decisions, commercial ambition, and an audacious approach to business. The winner is the player with the largest number of investments at the end of the game—an achievement that marks the rise of a true oil tycoon.
