About this board game

Venedig is a 2007 board game for 2–5 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Players use cards to construct buildings in Venice while advancing their gondolas across the game board.

Building placement offers more than a way to move forward. When a player places a building in a district adjacent to their gondola, they collect a treasure tile. Players can also drain swamps to collect swamp tiles, creating additional ways to advance their gondolas.

Swamp and treasure tiles can both be used to move a gondola onward. Each player therefore develops their progress through a combination of construction, building placement, and tile collection as the game unfolds.

  • Construct buildings in Venice using cards.
  • Collect treasure tiles from districts adjacent to your gondola.
  • Drain swamps to gain swamp tiles.
  • Use swamp and treasure tiles to advance your gondola.

At the end of the game, the player whose gondola has moved the farthest wins. With its Venetian setting, building cards, buildings, swamp tiles, treasure tiles, gondolas, builders, and board, Venedig presents a focused race built around developing the city and managing opportunities to move ahead.

The game includes 86 swamp tiles, 42 buildings, 42 building cards, 20 treasure tiles, 5 gondolas, 4 builders, 1 board, and a rules booklet. Venedig was released in Nuremberg in 2007 and is also available for real-time online play through BrettspielWelt.
