Kodama Forest

About this board game

Kodama Forest is a tile-placement game for 1–6 players that takes about 30 minutes to play. In a blooming springtime forest, players work together with their neighbors while competing to create lush landscapes worthy of the magical kodama spirits.

Each player develops two forests, placing one tile each round on the shared board to their right and another on the shared board to their left. Every placement helps cover the available landscape, so careful planning is essential as you coordinate with neighboring players.

Plant bamboo and flowers to beautify the forest and attract friendly pandas and butterflies. The goal is to fill the shared player boards with as many plants and animals as possible while avoiding uncovered dirt sections, which reduce a forest’s score.

The game ends when one board has covered all of its “5” and “10” dirt spaces. Players then score both shared boards, and the player with the lowest combined score determines the winner.
