About this board game

Castle Builder is a tile-building race for 2–4 players that takes about 60 minutes. As rival barons compete to impress the king, you will construct a beautiful castle while moving along a path to collect bonuses and coins.

On your turn, choose between drawing two tiles into your hand or building a tile from your hand or the shared market. Where and what you build determines how far your baron moves. Build high to travel farther, while features such as windows and tiled roofs can provide additional bonuses.

  • Build tiles so each number equals the sum of the two tiles beneath it.
  • Pay for a plus-or-minus-one adjustment when careful planning needs a little flexibility.
  • Move around the path to collect bonuses and take coins from the coin market.
  • Use each coin’s immediate one-time effect to strengthen your position or challenge your opponents.

The path creates tense moments as barons compete for valuable spaces. If you land on an opponent, you pass them for free; landing on a bonus lets you collect it, while landing on or passing a coin bonus allows you to take a coin. Coin effects can shift priorities—for example, rewarding the player with the most windows with two extra tiles.

Some tiles can be placed on any number, but may limit how you continue building upward, making placement an important long-term decision. In Castle Builder, every tile can advance both your castle and your baron, but the first player to reach seven coins wins.
