About this board game
Clans and Glory is a 20-minute game for 2–4 players, set during an ancient ritual in the Scottish Highlands. The free people have gathered at a meeting place to join a clan chief, and each player competes to win the most followers.
To begin, lay out 4–6 landscape boards, depending on the player count. Random cards from the deck are placed in specific locations. Every card has one of seven colors and a value from 3 to 8, creating opportunities to connect cards through either feature.
On your turn, place a card from your hand in an empty space next to or across from a card with the same color or value. You may then place one of your five clan tokens on the same location board. Continue placing cards and tokens until every player has placed 7–8 cards.
- Connect cards by matching color or value.
- Place clan tokens to contest landscape boards.
- Resolve board ownership based on token order.
- Score the cards claimed from each board.
When the game ends, resolve each location board separately. Flip the tokens on a board upside down so the first token played is on top. The owner of that token claims all cards with the lowest value on the board. The owner of the next token claims all cards with the next-lowest value, continuing through the token stack.
Each player adds the values of their claimed cards. In Clans and Glory, the player with the highest total wins, turning careful card placement and clan-token timing into a contest for Highland glory.
