About this board game

Miaui is a simultaneous card-selection game for 3–6 players that plays in around 20 minutes. Each round, players choose how deep to dive in the hope of bringing back the best fish for the feast.

Everyone begins with the same hand of cards, numbered 1–12. Three cards from the catch deck are laid out in order, from the surface of the water down to the depths. Each player secretly chooses one card from their hand, then all chosen cards are revealed at the same time.

The numbers determine who dives where. The player with the highest card dives deepest and takes the card at the bottom of the layout. The next-highest card claims the card above it, while the player who played the lowest card collects whatever is waiting at the surface.

• Choose your dive depth: Play a card from your hand to determine your position.
• Reveal simultaneously: Everyone commits to a choice before seeing the other players’ cards.
• Watch the catch: Fish, jellyfish, and seagulls can all appear in the water.

Not every catch is worth celebrating. Jellyfish cost you points, while seagulls steal your most recent catch, making the surface a risky place and every choice important. Players must balance the desire to dive deep with the uncertainty of what the catch deck has revealed.

With identical cards available to everyone, Miaui creates a tense contest of timing and selection. Pick the right number, claim the catch you want, and avoid the hazards beneath the waves. May the best diver win!
