About this board game
Can’t Win is a trick-taking game for 3–4 players that takes about 45 minutes to play. Each round challenges you to predict exactly how many times you will win, while a special constraint limits which cards you can use to win tricks.
At the start of every round, you choose your constraint. This restriction shapes the cards you are able to win tricks with, creating a direct connection between your choice and your bid. It may work in your favor, or it may make matching your prediction more difficult.
The central challenge of Can’t Win is to align your forecast with your actual performance. Winning tricks matters, but so does accurately identifying how many you will win before the round unfolds.
- Guess exactly how many tricks you will win.
- Choose a round constraint that limits which cards can win tricks for you.
- Record points for the tricks you win and the bids you match correctly.
At the end of each round, you record the points earned from your wins and successful bids. These results build toward the game’s final calculation, so both your trick-taking results and your accuracy matter.
When the game ends, your final score is calculated by multiplying your total wins by the points you scored through correct bids. With its combination of prediction, restrictions, and trick-taking, Can’t Win puts every round’s choices directly into the scoring.
