About this board game

Im Reich der Wüstensöhne is a tile-placement exploration game for 3–4 players, with each game lasting about 60 minutes. Players use caravans to explore a map that combines broad sandy deserts with green oasis landscapes.

The game board begins with a central field and four extensions, each five tiles long. These extensions show desert or parts of oasis, creating a map that develops as players draw and place tiles on the board.

The main goal is to form rich and fertile oases. As new tiles are added, the oases take shape across the board. Players pay to place explorer figures on these oases, competing to become the most powerful explorer.

  • Explore the map with caravans.
  • Draw and place tiles on board spaces.
  • Develop desert areas into fertile oases.
  • Pay to position explorer figures on oases.

Im Reich der Wüstensöhne is designed in the tradition of the 1996 release Entdecker. Its rules are easy to learn and its play is uncomplicated, making it suitable for families with players aged 8 and up.

Although accessible to younger players and families, the game still offers enough play depth for adults. With its evolving landscape, oasis development, and competition over explorer positions, it presents a clear and engaging exploration challenge in a desert setting.
