About this board game

Roar and Write! is a competitive press-your-luck dice game for 1–99 players that takes about 20 minutes. Across five Ages, you will compete to become the new monarch of the Animal Kingdom by impressing the five members of the Selection Committee.

Each Age begins with a communal pool of six dice. The pool is rolled three separate times, giving you opportunities to choose dice and make offerings to the council. Every committee member is appeased in a different way, so you must choose wisely: you can appeal to only one member during each Age.

• Make offerings that match unique council preferences, such as a certain sum, all 1s, or only odd numbers.
• Gain favor throughout the five kingdoms.
• Choose when to write down your final council offering for the Age.
• Complete your personal agenda to increase your score.

The more Selection Committee members you appease over the five Ages, the greater your rewards. Timing matters too: writing down your last council offering sooner is better, but focusing only on the committee may leave your own objectives unmet.

Roar and Write! combines dice selection, tactical risk-taking, and competing priorities in a compact game about earning the favor of the Animal Kingdom’s ruling council. At the end of the fifth Age, your personal agenda is revealed, scores are tallied, and the new monarch is announced.
