About this board game

Mille Bornes is a French card game for 2–6 players, with a play time of about 45 minutes, in which players race to drive 1,000 kilometres.

Inspired by the small marker stones once found on French roads, the game turns a journey between towns into a contest of timing, distance, and hazards. Each turn, draw a card, then choose whether to play it or discard it.

Before adding mileage to your journey, you must lay a green traffic light to get moving. Once underway, play cards showing distances and work toward the 1,000-kilometre goal. The first player to clock up the full distance wins the race.

• Play mileage cards to advance along the road.
• Use hazards such as a flat tire or speed limit against other players.
• Remedy hazards affecting your own journey with cards such as a spare tire or end of limit.
• Protect your progress with safety cards, including puncture proof.

The road is not always clear: opponents can slow your progress, while the right remedy can get you moving again. Deciding what to play and what to discard keeps every hand focused on the race.
