About this board game
Fiasco is a 15-minute card game for 2-6 players, combining suit selection, high-card play, pot-winning, and risky penalty cards. Released in 2003, it is easy to learn but offers a challenge to master.
According to its distinctive Renaissance-inspired presentation, Fiasco is a recently discovered card game thought to date from the late 1450s Italian Renaissance. The game features six suits representing symbols of power and wealth, along with the legendary character Fiasco.
At the start, choose your favorite suit and then try to collect them all. Your choices shape every hand as you decide when to play boldly and when to keep your cards low.
- Horses
- Swords
- Mandolins
- Roses
- Books
- Treasure chests
Play high cards to win the pot and accumulate points. However, high cards also give your opponents the opportunity to hit you with Fiasco penalty cards, creating a sharp risk-and-reward tension.
You can avoid the danger by laying low, but doing so may cost you the chance to win points. Fiasco therefore asks you to balance ambition against caution: push for the pot when the opportunity appears, or protect yourself from the penalties that may follow.
With its six symbolic suits, direct card play, and memorable Fiasco twist, the game offers a compact contest for advanced card players. Learn the rules quickly, then test your judgment as you pursue suits and points without giving opponents an easy opening.
