About this board game
Sunrise Sunset is a competitive two-player card game with approximately 30 minutes of play time, released in 2024. Players take the roles of Horus and Seth, facing off in an eternal struggle across three locations: the world of the living, the underworld, and the Sun Boat.
Each round, players take turns playing cards, up to a total of six cards each, and assigning every card to one of three lanes. Cards with stealth are played facedown, while cards without stealth are played faceup. If a played card has a placement ability, that ability is applied immediately, making each decision part of the ongoing contest.
The three locations represent the Deshret, the Duat, and the Mandjet, which symbolises the sun’s journey across the sky. Players compete to build power in each lane, seeking control through stronger forces and carefully timed abilities.
- Play cards into three contested locations.
- Use stealth and placement abilities to shape the battle.
- Resolve combat abilities and compare total power in each lane.
- Deal three damage to your opponent to win immediately.
Once both players have played all their cards, the victor and loser in each lane are determined. Combat abilities are then applied, and the power of the cards in each area is added together. If either player deals three damage or more at any moment, the game ends immediately.
With its focused two-player format and mythic theme, Sunrise Sunset turns the cycle of day and night into a direct battle of positioning, power, and timing.
