About this board game
Crack the Case is a deduction-based party game for 2–8 players, with sessions lasting about 60 minutes. Originally released by Milton Bradley in 1993, it challenges investigators to uncover the truth behind mysterious scenarios.
One player becomes the Moderator and presents a strange situation from a case card. The other players work individually or as a team, asking carefully chosen yes-or-no questions to piece together what really happened.
Each case begins with a puzzling setup that may range from a light-hearted curiosity to a darker crime scene. The initial information is only part of the story, so players must determine which questions will reveal the important details and lead them toward the solution.
The Moderator guides the investigation using a limited set of responses, including “Yes,” “No,” and “Irrelevant.” By interpreting these answers and refining their questions, investigators gradually reconstruct the hidden explanation behind the case.
- Deduction-focused gameplay based on yes-or-no questions
- 108 unique case cards featuring mysterious scenarios
- A Moderator role that presents cases and guides the investigation

- A timer that raises the stakes
With its mix of collaborative investigation, quick reasoning, and unusual situations, Crack the Case offers a social mystery challenge for players who enjoy asking questions and connecting clues. The timer adds pressure as the group works to solve each case.
