About this board game

Overstocked is a 30-minute board game for 1–6 players about stocking a warehouse with the most desirable 90s toys while avoiding the least popular ones.

Each turn, players place cards in one of two locations. Cards added to a personal warehouse increase the number of that toy available for sale, while cards placed in the central area are shared by everyone and represent each toy’s popularity.

The central area creates a shifting marketplace of toy crazes. Players must decide which toys to stock and which popularity levels to influence, carefully balancing their own warehouse against the shared situation.

After everyone has played all the cards from their hand, players score points for every toy in their warehouse. The more popular a toy is, the more points it scores, rewarding players who have filled their storage with the right trends.

Popularity also brings a major risk. The toy with the largest area in the central area scores negatively: its craze has peaked, and everyone is ready to move on to the next thing. A toy that seemed like a safe investment can therefore become a costly surplus.

  • Play with 1–6 players.
  • Choose between adding toys to your warehouse or shaping shared popularity.
  • Score popular stock while avoiding the toy that has peaked.

In Overstocked, success comes from anticipating changing tastes, manipulating the popularity of toys in your favor, and keeping your inventory under control. Fill your warehouse with the right crazes—but do not end up overstocked.
