Cloudy Kingdom

About this board game

Cloudy Kingdom is a route-building board game for 2–4 players that plays in about 30 minutes. High above the clouds, four noble Families compete for power by growing beanstalks between their castles.

Each Family has four castles to connect. Linking castles combines their powers, and the race for the throne ends when two castles belonging to one Family are connected across opposing sides: north to south or east to west.

On each turn, a player plays one Route card from their hand. Alternatively, they may discard that Route card and play a Magic card instead, adding another layer of possibilities to every decision. At the end of the turn, the player draws a new Route card before play passes clockwise.

Route cards offer more than a simple path across an empty space. A card can be placed in an open space or laid on top of an existing card at a 90-degree angle. This perpendicular placement creates a changing network of routes and makes every play an opportunity to reshape the developing kingdom.

• Play Route cards or trade them for Magic cards.
