About this board game

Welkin is a 2019 game for 2–4 players that takes about 45 minutes, casting you as a celestial construction manager building and selling floating islands above the sky.

Your goal is to amass the most gold by crafting islands from animal and plant resources, assembling them, and adding a little life spirit. Each island begins as a contract, and every completed creation is immediately sold for a gold reward.

On your turn, choose how to advance your production line. You can select a new island contract, produce resources from the five existing types, or allocate resources to contracts already in progress.

• Select an island creation contract.
• Produce one of the available resource types.
• Place resources on contracts to craft them.

Storage is limited for both contracts and resources, so efficient planning is essential. You will need to juggle your available spaces and decide which projects to pursue as you work toward valuable completed islands.

The reward for each island is shaped by the current market, meaning resource values are not fixed. Completing a contract immediately provides gold, but waiting and influencing the value of the resources may create a greater reward later.

Once no contracts remain, the game ends. The architect with the most gold earns their place among the stars. With its blend of resource production, contract fulfillment, limited storage, and shifting market values, Welkin challenges players to optimize every step of their sky-high construction business.
