Cat Rescue

About this board game

Cat Rescue is a cooperative card game for 1–4 players that takes about 30 minutes to play. Players work together to move cats from the street or the rescue home into the shelter, preparing them for adoption.

On your turn, take a cat and slide it into the shelter. When three or four cats of the same color form a row or column, the matching cat cards in the middle are flipped over. These flipped-over cats are now ready for adoption.

As more cats enter the shelter, the cards are pushed through the layout. When a flipped-over cat is pushed out of the shelter, it is adopted into a new loving home. The group must manage the shelter carefully while trying to help as many cats as possible.

• Cooperative play: Players share the goal of rescuing and adopting cats.
• Pattern building: Create rows or columns of three or four cats of the same color.
• Shelter management: Slide cats into the shelter and push ready-to-adopt cats out.
• Multiple outcomes: Receive a “cat rescue” title based on the number of cats the players help get adopted.

The game ends when the deck is depleted or when the rescue home has three cats. Your final result is determined by the number of cats the group successfully helps find new homes.

The second edition of Cat Rescue also includes a competitive mode. In this version, players score individually for the cat cards they flip over and push out of the shelter, gaining points for adopted cats and losing points for cats moved back into the street. Released in 2018, Cat Rescue offers a focused shelter puzzle with both cooperative and competitive ways to play.
