About this board game

DruidenWalzer is a two-player strategy game with an approximately 45-minute play time, in which players protect their trees, steal their opponent’s trees, and compete through a shifting dance of spirits.

Each player begins with four trees, and every tree is inhabited by tree spirits represented by cards. Players play spirits from their hands to trigger the Druid’s Dance, causing cards to move around the circle of trees. These movements can help or hurt either side before the next contest begins.

When matching druids meet, the players enter a contest of strength. The outcome can help one player capture an opponent’s tree, while the changing positions of the spirit cards create an ongoing challenge as both sides try to protect their own trees and weaken the other player’s position.

  • Designed for exactly two players
  • Four trees per player, each inhabited by spirit cards
  • A card-driven Druid’s Dance that moves spirits around the circle
  • Contests of strength between matching druids

The game ends when either player has captured two of the opponent’s trees. Trees can be captured through successful druid contests or when a tree loses all of its tree spirits, giving players more than one route to victory.

Released in 1999, DruidenWalzer is part of the Kosmos two-player series. Its combination of hand management, shifting card positions, and direct contests makes every play matter as the spirits circulate from tree to tree.
