About this board game

S.P.Q.RisiKo! is a Roman strategy board game for 3–5 players, with games lasting approximately 120 minutes. Set during a period of military anarchy, it places you in the role of an ambitious general competing for hegemony as the Empire approaches collapse.

The provinces independently elect new emperors, rival military forces contend for territory, and betrayals are common. To become Emperor of the new Empire, you must manage your army effectively while building influence across the map.

During the struggle for power, you can:

• Engage new troops to strengthen your military forces.
• Launch triremes to challenge your opponents.
• Build new centers of power and extend your presence.

Victory comes from accumulating the most Victory Points. These points are obtained through your presence in a greater number of provinces, making territorial reach central to your path toward imperial rule.

Originally released in 2005, S.P.Q.RisiKo! received a second edition in 2019. That edition is essentially a new game, with almost everything reworked, including setup, reinforcements, scoring, battles, the use of neutral troops, card earning, card sets, and the end-of-game condition.

Whether you are expanding your military influence or challenging rival generals at sea, the game presents a contest for control in a Roman Empire defined by instability, ambition, and shifting power.
