Twisty Little Passages is a solo dungeon-crawl puzzle game book for one player, with an approximate play time of 60 minutes. It can also be engaged with as a group, combining a fantasy adventure setting with Euro-style resource management.

The game is divided into story chapters, which are broken into campaign areas or levels. Each area presents a self-contained dungeon challenge while contributing to a larger progression: story, equipment, stats, and game mechanics build from one campaign to the next, giving the experience a legacy feel.

Every campaign area occupies a two-page spread. The left page provides the story along with information about enemies, equipment, special items, terrain, and the area’s distinct properties. On the right, a dungeon map sits alongside space for recording your current stats and inventory.

Exploration demands careful resource management. As you move through the dungeon, you can seek out useful advantages and prepare for increasingly dangerous encounters.

• Find magic elixirs to boost health.
• Acquire weapons and armor to improve attack and defense stats.
• Use equipment to reduce damage from future enemy encounters.
• Prepare to face a deadly boss at the end of each area.

Victory against the boss lets you win the area and advance the story. The book’s laminated pages make it possible to track play progress, inventory, stats, and enemy encounters directly on the page with a dry-erase pen.

Released in 2020, Twisty Little Passages offers a structured fantasy campaign in a compact game-book format, with puzzles, exploration, combat encounters, and continuing character development woven across its connected areas.
