About this board game
Dreams is a perception and intuition game for 3–6 players, played in around 30 minutes. In each round, four illustrated pictures are revealed, and the players take on the roles of gods creating a new constellation in the night sky.
One of the four images is transferred onto the central mat as a pattern of stars. All players except one know which picture was selected. The player who does not know the chosen image must remain undetected while trying to work out the answer.
During the placement phase, the players take turns transferring the picture star by star. Because each player may focus on different aspects of the image, the resulting constellation can reflect several interpretations of the same design. The challenge is to provide useful clues without making your own knowledge seem suspicious.
- Perception and intuition: interpret an image through the placement of stars.
- Hidden information: one player does not know which picture was chosen.
- Deduction: identify the uninformed player while avoiding suspicion.
- Guessing: the uninformed player tries to name the selected picture.
Once all the stars have been placed, the gods try to detect the “ignorant” player. At the same time, that player attempts to identify the chosen image, creating a balance between keeping the answer hidden and avoiding behavior that raises suspicion.
With 72 large cards illustrated by eight different artists, Dreams presents a changing collection of images for its constellation-building rounds. Released in 2016, it turns visual interpretation and social deduction into a contest of carefully managed clues and intuition.
