About this board game

Atlantica is a 2018 board game for 2–5 players in which research teams explore the sea to reveal the secrets of Plato’s legendary sunken city.

Before embarking on underwater adventures, players must prepare for possible treasure hunts. Divers are hired from the pub, while ships are reserved in port facilities. These preparations support the teams’ efforts to search the seafloor for the treasures of Atlantis.

The game’s central challenge is managing the expedition before the dive comes to an end. A hurricane card appearing near the bottom of the deck signals that the storm is approaching. When the hurricane arrives on the horizon, players end their dives and move to final scoring.

1. Hire divers from the pub for the underwater adventure.
2. Reserve ships in port facilities for possible treasure hunts.
3. Place the discovered treasures safely on ships.
4. End the dives when the hurricane card appears near the bottom of the deck.

At the end of the game, treasures safely placed on ships bring researchers points. The teams then tally their scores to determine who has made the most successful discovery from the sunken city.

With its evocative setting and clear expedition arc, Atlantica combines preparation, underwater exploration, and a race against the approaching hurricane. It offers a focused journey from hiring divers and securing ships to claiming points for Atlantis’s treasures.
