About this board game

Battle Beyond Space is a 3–4-player free-for-all space battle that plays in about 60 minutes. Across just 9 turns, 60–80 ships clash in an asteroid field, creating a massive confrontation with a compact playing time.

The combat system is diceless and extremely deadly. Each turn, choose one of your three squadrons, move it, and fire with it. After that, you also get to move one of your two capital ships, giving every turn multiple ways to influence the battle.

What sets the players apart is their super-secret alien technology. These powers can be sprung on another player at any time, turning an apparently settled engagement into a sudden threat or opportunity.

Some alien technologies are one-use effects of astonishing power, such as the Death Blossom. Others are more subtle, producing long-term effects that can shape the conflict over time.

With its blend of squadron movement, capital-ship commands, lethal combat, and surprise technologies, Battle Beyond Space focuses every decision within a tightly limited number of turns. Players must contend not only with the ships around them, but also with the possibility that an opponent is waiting for the perfect moment to reveal an alien power.
