About this board game

Odyssey: Wrath of Poseidon is a 2–5 player game that takes about 30 minutes, pitting a vengeful sea god against navigators racing to reach the Sacred Island.

The war is over, and Greek ships are trying to return home after a long absence. Before reaching their homeland, they must arrive at the Sacred Island to present offerings and prayers to the gods. Poseidon, however, intends to stop them.

One player becomes Poseidon, while the other players take the roles of navigators. Gameplay uses two copies of the same board, separated by the game box so the sides cannot be seen by one another. Poseidon tracks the ships’ real positions on his board and uses powerful storms to drive them off course.

  • Poseidon: Conceal the ships’ true locations and unleash storms to prevent them from reaching their destination.
  • Navigators: Sail through the storms, gather clues, and try to determine where the ships really are.
  • Hidden information: The navigators record their ships’ positions, but these locations are only best guesses and may become increasingly inaccurate.

With the navigators unable to see the other side of the board, every decision becomes a test of deduction and judgment. They must use the information available to stay on course while dealing with the uncertainty created by Poseidon’s storms.

In Odyssey: Wrath of Poseidon, the navigators win by reaching the Sacred Island before the game ends. Poseidon wins by keeping them from their destination, turning the voyage home into a tense struggle between hidden knowledge and careful reasoning.
