About this board game

Help Arrives! is a 1–2 player tactical wargame about the Spanish Civil War, with games lasting approximately 120 minutes. This stand-alone title in the War Storms Series is fully compatible with A Las Barricadas!, bringing international assistance and additional forces to the system.

Using the PTH base rules with new and adapted additions, the game covers fierce clashes involving infantry, tanks, artillery, and aircraft. Its platoon-level units represent groups of roughly 30 to 40 soldiers, while weapons units, armored vehicles, and transports are represented at corresponding battlefield scales. Each turn depicts approximately 12–15 minutes of action.

The system emphasizes the role of officers. Leaders activate units, coordinate with other officers, call for artillery and air support, influence morale checks, coordinate assaults, and perform other special actions. A simultaneous-execution “WE GO” structure creates a hybrid between conventional turns and real-time decision-making: players activate their units until both sides have completed their activations.

Scenarios use isomorphic mapboards that connect along any equal-length edge, allowing many terrain combinations and player-designed battlefields. With four maps, eight overlays, 13 scenarios, and a moderate complexity level with good solitaire suitability, Help Arrives! offers a flexible and focused simulation of a pivotal conflict.
