About this board game
Connect6 is a two-player abstract strategy game played in about 30 minutes, in which players race to form six consecutive stones on a Go-like board.
Black and White take turns placing stones of their own color on empty intersections. Black plays first, but places only one stone on the opening move. After that, each player places two stones on every turn.
The objective is clear: be the first player to create a line of six of your own stones. A winning line may run horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, making every placement important as players develop their own threats and respond to the opponent’s growing patterns.
- Players: 2
- Playing time: about 30 minutes
- Core challenge: create six consecutive stones before the other player
- Winning directions: horizontal, vertical, or diagonal
Similar to Go-Moku, Connect6 uses a simple placement system that creates a focused contest of positioning and foresight. The special opening rule gives Black one stone on the first move, while subsequent turns give both players two placements to consider.
The game emerged on the internet around 1999 and was presented by the team of Professor I-Chen Wu at the 11th Advances in Computer Games Conference in 2005. Released in 2003, Connect6 offers a concise abstract duel built around one memorable goal: connect six first.
