About this board game
Secret Night at Davis Manor is a team-based hidden-role board game for 4–8 players, lasting around 120 minutes. Set in 1928 York, England, it places a grand dinner, a valuable fortune, and a dangerous plan at the heart of Davis Manor.
The Master Thief and Chief Inspector reveal their roles, while the remaining players keep their identities hidden. The thieves must take the money and escape in a vehicle; the police must identify and arrest them. In games with an odd number of players, the Deceiver may also affect the outcome.
The mansion contains 16 rooms, each represented around the perimeter of the main board. Object cards are shuffled and placed face up in the rooms, creating a changing network of possible clues, tools, and opportunities. Players draw a card, spin the roulette to determine movement, and perform actions during their turn.
- Search: Use a green search hex to take the card associated with that room, then hide one card face down in its place.
- Manage your hand: End your turn with no more than three cards, keeping at least one card face up.
- Use the Action Square: When next to another pawn, trade cards, steal one blindly, push a player up to two squares, or whisper a private secret.
Players can cooperate, bluff, negotiate, and use character skills while trying to work out who can be trusted. The game ends at dawn after nine turns, at 6:00 a.m., or when one team reaches 10 points. If the final score is tied without the Deceiver in play, the first team to score wins.
With hidden information, movement, card searches, and private conversations, Secret Night at Davis Manor turns a lavish dinner into a tense contest of deduction and deception.
