About this board game

Endearment is a strategy board game for 1–4 players, played in about 70 minutes, in which you take on the role of one of Jane Austen’s beloved heroines. Traverse Regency England, improve your traits, and pursue a timeless romance while competing for the most Endearment.

The game unfolds over a series of Chapters. At the start of each Chapter, new Settings and Characters are added to the board, and a Plot card establishes the next stage of your story. Players first take turns visiting Town, where they can gather Persuasion, acquire Dresses, and invite or search for Characters.

• Visit the Tea House to gain Persuasion.
• Buy Dresses from the Modiste.
• Invite or search for Characters in the Character deck and discard.
• Travel to Settings and interact with Characters.

Once Town actions are complete, players take turns visiting Settings and interacting with Characters across a series of rounds. The Chapter ends after all Settings have been visited, moving the unfolding romance forward through Regency society’s genteel diversions and social rivalries.

As in a Jane Austen novel, the story concludes with a wedding—or sometimes more than one. When one or more players are married, the current Chapter is completed and the game ends. Bonus points are then scored, and the player with the most Endearment wins.

With its blend of character interaction, trait improvement, social maneuvering, and romantic ambition, Endearment invites players to shape their own elegant Regency story while striving for a memorable conclusion.
