Campaign: Fall Blau is a solitaire wargame for one player, designed for a roughly 90-minute session, set during the German summer offensive of 1942 in Southern Russia during World War II.

Take command of Operation Fall Blau and choose three generals to lead your campaign. Your decisions shape each month of the offensive as you determine which objective to pursue and how best to use your available resources.

• Select an objective, each featuring its own unique Soviet defences.
• Manage the supplies required to launch each offensive.
• Choose an operational pause when an attack is not the right move.
• Respond to random event cards that may help your plans—or trigger Soviet counterattacks.

Every objective presents a different set of Soviet defences, making the choice of where to strike an important part of the campaign. Supplies must be managed carefully, while an operational pause offers an alternative to pressing forward with an attack.

Random event cards add uncertainty to the advance. Most events are beneficial, but a few represent Soviet counterattacks capable of throwing a serious wrench into carefully prepared plans. The campaign therefore demands attention not only to your chosen objective, but also to the threats that may emerge along the way.

Play continues through monthly turns until the snows begin. Once the Russian winter arrives, further attacks end, bringing the campaign to its conclusion. In Campaign: Fall Blau, the challenge is to make effective use of your generals and resources before the season—and the offensive—runs out.
