About this board game

Bequest is a strategic card game for 3–6 players that plays in about 45 minutes, challenging you to divide Dr. Schism’s fortune and claim the most valuable estate.

Each player draws five Asset cards and splits them into two piles. The player on your right chooses one pile to keep, leaving you the other, while you choose from the piles divided by the player on your left. After everyone collects their spoils, the next round begins with the direction reversed.

Every decision offers an opportunity—and a risk. Watch what your neighbors are collecting, work out which assets they need, and decide whether to offer them an enticing pile or keep your best options for yourself.

• Gadgets: matching sets provide exponentially increasing values.
• Hideouts: earn set values, including potential locations such as a Bunker or Space Station.
• Evidence: becomes a liability, counting as −$3 each once you have three or more.
• Global Influence: earns $10 or $20 when you have more than your neighbors.
• Schemes: introduce unique scoring conditions based on the rest of your collection.

Keys to Dr. Schism’s vault determine places in the drafting order for Special Asset cards. These include Schemes and powerful versions of other card types, creating another reason to weigh a smaller pile against a larger one.

With simple actions masking difficult choices, Bequest rewards careful observation, clever splitting, and a willingness to tempt your opponents. Will you walk away with the lion’s share of the estate and become the next great supervillain?
