About this board game

Michael is a cooperative narrative puzzle game for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 90 minutes. You take the role of four brilliant psychiatry students meeting Michael for one final conversation at his country home.

Michael is the most complex case of Dissociative Personality Disorder ever studied. His mind is guided by 24 different Personalities, each with their own requests, reactions, and place within a tangled web of connections. Your task is to understand who they are and discover how they can finally reunite with the real Michael.

The game unfolds over four Sessions. During each one, players talk with the Personalities, discuss the clues they provide, and decide when to continue or take a break. Every conversation increases Michael’s Stress, so managing the patient’s condition is essential as you determine the right moment to move on and let him rest.

Not every Personality wants you to succeed. Some recognize the importance of your effort and offer help, while others want you to fail so they can remain alive in Michael’s mind. Listening carefully and speaking with the right Personality at the right time can provide objects needed to satisfy someone else’s request.

With its evolving answers, rising Stress, random starting setup, and underlying mathematical system, Michael creates a different path each time it is played. The result is a fully replayable mind puzzle where every conversation may reveal another connection.
