Space Lunch

About this board game

Space Lunch is a food-collecting game for 1–2 players that plays in about 20 minutes. Take alternating turns gathering cards from a shared grid, use beverage cards to activate abilities, and race to complete three sets of three matching food cards.

Each turn begins with the beverage phase. During this phase, players can use three beverage cards of the same type to use the corresponding beverage ability. The turn then continues with the food phase, where the position of the pick token determines which cards are available.

• Take one food card from the column marked by the pick token.
• Take its corresponding beverage.
• Move the pick token one column to the right.
• If the token is below the rightmost column, return it to the leftmost column.

The game can end in two ways. If a player completes three sets of three food cards of the same type, that player wins immediately. If no one achieves this before only six food cards remain in the grid, the players compare their collections instead.

In that final comparison, the player with the most pairs of cards of the same type wins. A set of three food cards does not count as a pair, making the final scoring distinct from the race for completed sets.

With its alternating turns, rotating pick-token position, food collection, and beverage-card abilities, Space Lunch creates a compact contest centered on matching cards and timing. Released in 2020, it offers a focused game for two players or a solo experience.
