About this board game

Hacker: Deluxe Edition is a computer crime card game for 2–6 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Inspired by the 1990 Secret Service raid on Steve Jackson Games, it challenges players to build access across an ever-expanding network while competing for root access sites.

Rather than giving each player an individual stack of cards, play develops through the shared Net in the center of the table. Use in-dials to break into systems, gain root access, and expand your reach. You can also upgrade your hacking tools, negotiate with other hackers for access, and phreak others onto your system.

Success depends on gaining the greatest number of root access sites while avoiding hazards. ICE and law enforcement raids threaten your progress, adding danger to every attempt to extend your presence across the Net.

The Deluxe Edition includes the Dark Side expansion, adding new systems and threats to the game. Its expanded features include:

• Out-dials and military upgrades
• Multiple accounts and virtual bridges
• Increased security
• Black ICE, viruses, and the worm

These additions broaden the hacking tools, security challenges, and threats represented in the shared network. Hacker: Deluxe Edition re-implements Hacker and Hacker II: The Dark Side in one package, offering a complete version of the computer crime card game and its expansion.
