About this board game
Race For Bastogne is a two-player Grand Tactical Series game simulating the Battle of the Bulge from the night of 15 December through the night of 25 December 1944.
The game focuses on the German XLVII Panzer Corps attack across the Our River and the determined American defense that prevented Bastogne from being taken. German forces begin with the 2. Panzer Division and 26. Volksgrenadier Division, reinforced by the Panzer Lehr Division, while the American player commands forces representing the 110th Infantry Regiment of the 28th Infantry Division.
As the battle develops, the American side brings delaying actions by Combat Command Reserve of the 9th Armored Division and Combat Command B of the 10th Armored Division into the struggle. The campaign then reaches the defense of the critical crossroads town by the 101st Airborne Division, even as German forces bypass Bastogne to extend the Bulge.
Race For Bastogne includes a Campaign Game and six scenarios. Five scenarios use one map or portions of one map, while the sixth uses both large maps laid end to end, allowing the game to portray the wider operation.
- Grand Tactical Series 2.0c rules and exclusive game rules
- Two single-sided 22 x 34 inch maps and one double-sided 8.5 x 11 inch map
- Eight sheets of 5/8-inch counters and four ten-sided dice
- Reference cards, divisional charts, and an off-map display with turn record chart
Designed by Joe Chacon, developed by Nick Richardson, and featuring game art by Nicolas Eskubi, Race For Bastogne combines a focused historical subject with the scope of a grand tactical campaign.
