Ore: The Mining Game

About this board game

Ore: The Mining Game is a 2–5-player strategy game for approximately 90 minutes, set during the Industrial Revolution. Players take the roles of industrialists competing to build fame and fortune through careful supply chain management.

Each player begins with at least $5 and four workers, but their early options are limited. On each turn, workers can be placed in mines to collect resources or in distribution to secure lucrative contracts that help operations scale.

The game features five different mined resources:

• Lead
• Coal
• Copper
• Iron
• Gold

Mining resources, acquiring assets, securing contracts, and expanding through new initiatives gradually increase a player’s ability to generate income. This growth is central to the game’s progression, as limited means develop into increasingly productive operations.

Mines are not permanent. After being mined for a certain number of turns, a mine becomes exhausted and is replaced by a subsequent mine card. Assets, initiatives, and contract cards are also limited, with acquired cards replaced until their respective decks run out.

Ore: The Mining Game lasts seven turns, creating a focused contest in which players must make the most of their workers, resources, money, and opportunities. At the end of Turn 7, victory points from buildings, money, and completed contracts determine the winner.
