About this board game
Roland Wright: The Dice Game is a 30-minute roll-and-write dice game for 1–5 players, in which aspiring game designers race to create the perfect dice game before the submission deadline.
Each player works on a personal 6×6 grid of dots, filling it with colorful “bits” to complete patterns and achieve awards. Equipment can help speed up the design process, while careful decisions make every turn more efficient.
On each turn, the Active Player rolls six dice, each marked with colored bits. The Active Player groups the dice by color, removes one group, and fills in bits of that color on their grid. Other players use any remaining color group to fill in their own grids.
- Roll six colored dice and group them by color.
- Fill your grid with matching color bits.
- Complete patterns and pursue awards.
- Erase a corresponding color bit to perform an action.
After filling their grids, all players may perform one action by erasing its corresponding color bit. This creates a balance between building patterns and spending bits for useful effects.
When any player fills their grid, the game ends on the next turn. The player with the most points wins, so every placement and action matters as the deadline approaches.
Developed over two years by the team behind Pack O Game, Roland Wright: The Dice Game launches a series of genre-redefining “Roll & Write” games.
