Rainbow Pirates

About this board game

Rainbow Pirates is a strategic card game for 2–5 players that takes about 60 minutes to play. Inspired by Rummy on an enchanted island, it challenges you to build card groups as treasure while responding to pirate attacks from your opponents.

Your goal is to earn as many Treasure Points as possible by placing groups of cards on your island. On your turn, you can place cards, rearrange cards between your hand and island, or play pirate cards to attack opponents or gain useful advantages.

Pirate cards can steal treasure, blow it up, or otherwise disrupt an opponent’s plans. However, aggression comes with risks: attacking another island may provoke reprisals and can limit the treasure you earn from Black Cards. You can also pursue a more peaceful strategy, depending on your hand, preferences, and the dynamics at the table.

Even when it is not your turn, you may be able to stop an incoming attack. If you hold the right matching Color Card, you can use it to BLOCK the pirate card. For example, a Captain Card can be stopped by bribing the Captain with a green “Me Time” Color Card, although the card used as the bribe can no longer earn you Treasure Points.

• The game ends when a player empties their hand while having at least two full rainbows on their island, or when the draw cards run out.
• Going out awards a 5-point bonus, but does not automatically guarantee victory.
• Rare Rainbow Pirate cards are worth 5 Treasure Points each and can become tempting targets for theft.

In Rainbow Pirates, valuable cards can draw players into costly conflicts, especially with three or more players. The result is a flexible contest where careful collection, timely defense, and bold attacks can all lead to victory.
