About this board game
The Hills Rise Wild! is a miniatures game for 2–4 players, with sessions lasting around 180 minutes, set in H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos. Each player leads a family of misfits seeking the legendary Necronomicon and attempting to bring it safely back to their lair.
Success means facing the other families directly. Players move across a small board, invoke special powers, and battle their opponents in a contest defined by constant conflict and mass carnage. Because the playing area is compact, families can encounter one another as early as the second turn.
Once the fighting begins, deaths and battles continue throughout the game. Dice rolling is central to the experience, with plenty of rolls driving the clashes between opposing families.
- Miniatures-based battles in the Cthulhu Mythos
- 2–4 players
- Approximately 180 minutes of play
- Movement, special powers, and combat
- A small board designed for early encounters
Every character has a special power, giving each family members with distinct capabilities to consider during play. Players spend time consulting the player charts to discover what those powers do and how best to use them in battle.
The Hills Rise Wild! focuses on direct confrontation rather than extended periods of separation. Its compact battlefield, character abilities, frequent dice rolls, and relentless deaths combine into a game built around finding the treasured book while trying to eliminate rival families before they can claim it.
