About this board game
Adeptus Titanicus is a two-player battle game from 1988, with approximately 120 minutes of play time. One player commands a number of Imperial Battle Titans while the other controls Chaos Titans, reenacting battles from the Horus Heresy.
As the first game to introduce the Epic system, it focuses on clashes between powerful war machines. Its Titans feature a modular design, allowing their armaments to be adapted to suit the battle being fought.
That modular approach gives the game a distinctive focus on configuring Titan forces before the conflict. The opposing sides are clearly defined, placing Imperial and Chaos Titans at the center of each scenario.
- Designed for two players
- Approximately 120 minutes of play time
- Imperial Battle Titans versus Chaos Titans
- Modular Titan designs with adaptable armaments
- Set during battles of the Horus Heresy
Adeptus Titanicus was later expanded with Space Marine, which added infantry to the system. Articles in White Dwarf also introduced rules allowing war machines of other races to be used.
The first edition of Epic was ultimately completed by Codex Titanicus, which finalized the rules first introduced in Adeptus Titanicus and Space Marine First Edition. For players interested in the origins of Epic and Titan-centered Horus Heresy battles, this game presents the foundational conflict between Imperial and Chaos war machines.
