About this board game
L’Armeé du Nord: the Belgian Campaign 1815 is a game for 1–5 players, with an approximately 300-minute playing time, focused on Napoleon’s final campaign and the road to Waterloo.
In 1815, Napoleon launches 125,000 French troops across the Belgian frontier. These veterans must advance through a landscape marked by the Sambre River, Charleroi, Les Quatre Bras, Ligny, Genappe, Wavre, and Mont St. Jean, just south of Waterloo.
The central challenge is timing. As Napoleon, can you mass the French army quickly enough to defeat the Allied armies one after another? As Blücher or Wellington, can you mobilize your forces and unite on the battlefield before the French momentum becomes overwhelming?
L’Armeé du Nord presents the campaign across three large, beautifully illustrated maps. The game’s system establishes a compact operational scale, representing the movement and fighting of the Belgian Campaign in clearly defined units of distance, time, and strength.
- Scale: 700 meters per hex
- Time: 2 hours per game turn
- Strength: 1,000 infantry, 500 cavalry, or 1 artillery battery per strength point
- Components: three 34 × 22-inch maps and one and a half counter sheets
The historical situation creates a contest between French concentration and Allied cooperation. The route north toward Brussels may be only a few days of hard marching away, but major battles and the need to coordinate separate armies stand between Napoleon and the capital.
