About this board game

Pecunia non olet (Second Edition) is a 40-minute board game for 2–6 players about managing a Roman latrine and becoming its richest operator.

Running a latrine is anything but simple. Customers have different preferences and habits, so players must manage their waiting queues carefully while dealing with the demands of senators, slaves, female Romans, and average Romans.

Senators pay more, but they refuse to sit next to slaves. Female Romans want to visit the bathroom together, while the average Roman takes longer than an operator would prefer. Players can also send unwanted customers to their opponents, turning queue management into a contest of timing and disruption.

The second edition adds five expansion modules that can be combined with the base game. VIR, or very important Romans, introduce new characters with different effects when they enter or leave the latrine. Latrine expansions let their owner make more effective offers, adding another way to improve operations.

The job ladder changes the focus beyond money alone: players must also consider who is the most honorable operator. With its mix of customer management, rivalry, and comic Roman theme, Pecunia non olet offers a lively family game for groups of two to six players.
