About this board game
The Battles of Waterloo is a 1994 board wargame for 1–4 players with an approximately 300-minute play time, covering four major battles of the Waterloo campaign plus a campaign game.
The game includes scenarios for Mont Saint Jean, Quatre Bras, Ligny, and Wavre. Individual scenarios require one or two maps, while the campaign game uses all three included mapsheets.
At the heart of play is an interactive turn sequence that integrates Command, Coordination, and Control. The LIM, or Leader Initiative Marker, system creates play tension, while lower-level command ability is represented through Cohesion and Commitment.
- Combined Arms rules for effective combat tactics
- Multi-tiered movement capabilities
- Grand Battery, Square, and Cavalry Pursuit rules
- Special Chateau Defense rules
- Napoleon’s Health rules
The Battles of Waterloo comes with 480 full-color, two-sided counters, three 22×34-inch full-color mapsheets, one 10-sided die, a 32-page Rule Book and Errata, and a 16-page Scenario Book. Player aid cards provide the Terrain Chart, Fire Table, Shock Table, other tables, Sequence of Play, Assault Resolution Procedure, the command hierarchy for L’Armée du Nord, and guidance on what to do when you pick a LIM.
Colorful and tension-filled, the game presents a detailed study of the Waterloo campaign through its battles, command systems, movement rules, and combat procedures.
