About this board game

Outreach: The Conquest of the Galaxy, 3000AD is a grand-strategic simulation of intergalactic conflict for 1–4 players, with an advertised play time of 960 minutes. Players guide the destiny of a civilization during a period of vast, explosive expansion.

The game’s enormous map covers roughly one-third of the Galaxy, depicting an area approximately 28,000 by 50,000 light years. Each 19mm hex represents about 1,200 light years, while color coding shows the relative density of stars in each region.

At the beginning of the basic scenario, only a few thousand light years have been explored and settled. With the development of long-range telesthetic inter-stellar shifts, civilizations can reach farther into the Galaxy as they pursue growth and influence.

The central objective is to raise your Civilization Level higher than those of your rivals. This is achieved indirectly by expanding your economic base, securing access to resources, and increasing population—or by interfering with the progress of other civilizations.

  • A vast map spanning about one-third of the Galaxy
  • StarFleet units representing commitments of time, effort, and beings
  • Scenarios accommodating one to four players

StarFleet units represent more than individual vessels: each reflects a wider commitment of resources and people. That broad perspective reinforces the game’s focus on civilization-scale decisions rather than narrowly defined ship-to-ship encounters.

Part of the StarForce Trilogy box set alongside StarForce and StarSoldier, Outreach offers an expansive vision of galactic development, competition, and conflict. Its immense scale makes every push into unexplored space part of a larger struggle for supremacy.
