About this board game
Final Act is a two-player abstract tank-versus-tank game that plays in about 70 minutes. Players program movement and firing decisions simultaneously, then reveal their plans and maneuver their tanks according to them.
Its innovative control panel system lets each player quickly program moves for up to seven tanks. Quick dials determine both the direction a tank moves and the direction it points, keeping planning focused while creating uncertainty about what the opponent intends to do.
Players plan their moves, place their shots, and then carry out their maneuvers. If a tank and a shell end up in the same space, a hit occurs. Each tank can withstand one hit, but two hits knock it out, making shot placement and movement equally important.
- Simultaneous programming and reveal
- Quick dials for movement direction and tank facing
- Support for up to seven tanks per player
- Terrain pieces that influence defense and attacks
Before the game begins, players may place certain terrain pieces, including swamps, minefields, and berms. These defensive features can affect how players attack and help determine where tanks should move.
Victory comes from moving one tank to the opponent’s last line of defense row. Designed by Sharon Katz, who commanded a tank in the Israeli Army, Final Act is not tied to any particular historical period, presenting its tank action as an abstract contest of planning, timing, and positioning.
